OVERVIEW: When running there are few things more valuable than information. This simple fact makes the RECON SHELL a lethal addition to any crew. The RECON's ability to gather intel in real time to convey nearby enemy locations, hunt wounded targets, signal when it's been pinged by a rival RUNNER threat, and engage with its personal tracking drone make it a one-stop shop for engagement awareness and strategic planning/counteroffensive maneuvering.

HISTORY: The RECON SHELL is another piece of advanced UESC tech in the hands of outlaw RUNNERS. While the core tech itself is still run by the UESC, active use of these early model RECON SHELLS was discontinued after it was found that the incoming data collected by its various information gathering systems had a chance to scramble the neural integrity of the mind housed within. RUNNERS, as is typical to their general outlook, are less concerned with the consequences of the technology they use to survive/thrive. So, when RECON SHELLS and schemas started showing up in RUNNER circles, they jumped at the chance to benefit from the positives while chalking up the negatives alongside everything else that can go wrong on a run. 

COMMON SHELL SERIES: The codename BLACKBIRD is another byproduct of the UESC's combat SHELL initiative. Like the DESTROYER's LOCUS personality series, BLACKBIRD was engineered to support the mental integrity of soldiers deployed into active combat scenarios. Its calm but decisive vocalization pattern gives it a commanding presence with a general focus on directness to ensure clear communication of battlefield intel. RUNNER kit-bashing of a SHELL's underlying systems to better fit their criminal needs is said to have played a part in jailbreaking a deep-coded "command:follow" protocol hidden inside all personality matrixes originating from UESC Combat Science Labs, raising concerns over the legitimacy of a UESC deployed RUNNER's free thought and their ability to consider active orders. Maybe another reason the UESC had to shelve their public-facing RUNNER operations.

OVERVIEW: Tracker Drones are portable, mobile explosive devices that latch onto a hostile target's movement and advance until they catch the target or run out of power. Either instance results in an EMP detonation. Tracker Drones give RECON SHELLS a unique advantage in starting or ending an engagement.

HISTORY: The Tracker Drone is dark market gadgetry, connecting a kit-bashed "bug" drone to a RECON SHELL's latent threat detection, allowing it to identify, target, attack, and explode. It's essentially a living grenade if you remove any consideration for biologics and sentience, and focus solely on threat appraisal and eagerness to detonate.

HISTORY: There's a reason RECON SHELLS have been labeled "vigilante kits" by UESC and local investigators. Their array of tracking abilities were put to immediate use by bounty hunters and bagmen once the SHELL's military-grade, UESC-engineered tech hit RUNNER circles. Five incidents of "personal justice" on Earth, two on Mars, and one in a post-orbital space dock near Luna in less than a year made the RECON infamous back in Sol and forced a UESC crackdown on their use.
