RUNNERS' GUIDE v.1.001.03.tciv
ZONE EXPLORATION: CRYO ARCHIVE
===================================================================
ZONE: Cryo Archive
LOCATION: UESC MARATHON, TAU CETI IV low orbit
FUNCTION: Cryostasis Induction, Storage, and Transitioning
ENVIRON: Interior UESC MARATHON [cryo-impacted]
REGIONS:
• CONTROL
• REVIVAL
• STEERAGE
• PRESERVATION
• BIOSTOCK
• INDEX
• CARGO
STATUS: The UESC MARATHON's CRYO ARCHIVE's systems are dormant or derelict. Half of the ZONE's facilities are coated in cryo leakage. The ZONE itself is sealed from the rest of the ship, and local and UESC security measures make accessing this location difficult and incredibly dangerous.
OVERVIEW: The central function of the CRYO ARCHIVE is the cryostasis induction, storage, monitoring, and transitioning. Despite the apparent success of the UESC MARATHON's utilization of cryotechnology, humanity has made no recorded attempt to use cryo on such grand scale since. At least, not until the most recent push to TAU CETI IV. But even then, advancements in both space travel and biomat technologies have cut the travel time and technical requirements severely.
A secondary role of the CRYO ARCHIVE was the cataloging of all colonists' DNA. This was necessary to provide in-depth, personalized medical care and to maintain a detailed record of humanity's biological makeup.
The full extent of Colony Command's use of the DNA records is unknown, but there are reports of security measures requiring DNA validation, suggesting personalized care was not the only use case for each colonist's biological markers.
NOTE: Intel from inside the UESC MARATHON is limited. The RUNNERS' GUIDE will continue to source intel from active RUNNER accounts. Entries will be updated with additional details in subsequent editions.
