OUTPOST REGION: AIRFIELD

LOCATION: South Edge 

ROLE: OUTPOST's AIRFIELD was the launch and landing point for colony exploration expeditions.  

OVERVIEW: AIRFIELD's loading/unloading/maintenance bays were a multi-function operation designed to allow efficient use of limited space. Dropcraft would cycle through as missions across the planet's surface helped provide firsthand examination of terrain, resources, and dangers.  

Service bays provide multiple vectors for traversal into and out of danger. But the vertical landing slots in most of the bay ceilings are stuck up, making them dangerous to distracted RUNNERS when heat rain kicks up.

OUTPOST REGION: DORMITORIES

LOCATION: Northern Edge 

ROLE: ZONE workers' residence. 

OVERVIEW: The DORMITORIES were the living quarters for OUTPOST workers and have the distinct honor of being humanity's first home on TAU CETI IV. The scientist, research, and infrastructure personnel deployed to establish a foothold on the planet all started their NEW CASCADIAN lives in these tight quarters. Then, as the colony expanded, new waves filled the bunks as workers transitioned to new ZONES and REGIONS or other OUTPOST stations. 

As with much of OUTPOST, the DORMITORIES offer tight combat engagements, with the central cafeteria being an especially lethal killbox. As with anywhere on TAU CETI IV, caution is advised.  

WARNING: UESC TOX WARDENS have been reported in this REGION. 

REMARK: Keep your nerve or expect pain. These corridors can get extremely violent.

OUTPOST REGION: PINWHEEL

LOCATION: Central 

ROLE: Command and Operations Control with three dedicated wings—Command, Drone Control, Fabrication. 

OVERVIEW: The PINWHEEL is a massive control station and the main structure within a given OUTPOST. Each PINWHEEL was deployed from the MARATHON as pre-crafted forward operating bases engineered to serve the first stage of planetary colonization. The PINWHEEL's three sub-REGIONS are: 

     • Command Wing 

     • Drone Wing 

     • Workshop/Fabrication Wing 

Each works in conjunction with the others—Command driving initiatives for all wings and all operational REGIONS, Drone deploying automated research craft to collect and return geologic, atmospheric, and biologic samples to aid in the identification of zones suitable for colony needs, and Fabrication providing parts support across all operations. 

The catastrophic damage to the Fabrication wing suggests late-colony complications beyond what's been observed in PERIMETER'S DATA WALL or DIRE MARSH's ANOMALY and QUARANTINE REGION.

OUTPOST REGION: PROCESSING

LOCATION: West Edge 

ROLE: Planetary research sample processing. 

OVERVIEW: OUTPOST's PROCESSING facilities oversaw the intake, assessment, and distribution of samples collected by the expeditions deployed by OUTPOST command directives. Every drone, dropcraft, rover, and research vehicle cycled through PROCESSING upon returning from field service.  

This REGION's low ground provides a striking view of the vast dryland flats that stretch into the distance. But the looming PINWHEEL and open expanses between structures makes navigating PROCESSING a dangerous proposition—gunfire and or literal rainfire will punish many RUNNERS caught off their guard.
